Diversity Training Beyond Awareness

Diversity Training Beyond Awareness

For improved productivity of multicultural teams

It can be frustrating to spend hours attending training on Rdiversity, equity and inclusion and still not know HOW to start improving your interaction with others... PAPTAKE’s action-oriented training can help.  To tackle domestic diversity issues, our unique educational offerings integrate cross-cultural training methods to enhance participant’s intercultural competencies, one of the 21st century communication skills.  Since 2005, PAPTAKE has been helping clients build new perspectives on cultural diversity – a cognitive shift to cue positive behavioral outcomes: delay personal judgements, proactively prevent/recover from intercultural conflicts, and turn interpersonal issues into learning opportunities.  Let us go beyond cultural awareness!  Boosting staff productivity in multicultural environments is the goal of PAPTAKE services.

philosophy

CULTURE AS AN INCLUSIVE TERM

PAPTAKE assists clients in developing multiple perspectives that would allow them to understand intercultural relationships in various ways.  Diversity, equity and inclusion are not just about race and ethnicity.  In addition, we define culture in terms of nationality, socio-economic class, gender, sexual orientation, religion, generation/age, physical exceptionality, and so on.  PAPTAKE services are designed to bridge perceived gaps across cultures in any type of workplace: non-profits, K-12 schools, universities, health care providers, corporates, and governmental organizations.

EXPERTISE

KNOWING INTO DOING

There are two kinds of skill categories: content skill (WHAT you do) and process skill (HOW you do it,) and PAPTAKE consultants are PROCESS SKILL experts.  While many organizations prioritize their content development (services and products,) organizational members’ process skill development (managing diversity, positive interpersonal communications, etc.) is often put on a back burner.  It is not rare that a manager just expects staff to “be nice to one another.” We all know that it’s good to be nice, but knowing and doing are not the same.  Exercising on HOWs with PAPTAKE consultants will help turn your abstract knowledge into practical actions.

RESEARCH-BASED CONTENT

PAPTAKE consultants are knowledgeable about and have experience conducting research studies regarding Intercultural Competencies and Communication, Multicultural Education, Educational Administration, Educational Reform, Strategic Management, and Managerial Psychology.  PAPTAKE consultants are also well prepared to introduce real-life experiences of crossing cultures to illustrate research-based concepts and theories. Evidence-based knowledge coupled with concrete examples makes learning more accessible.

KUNIKO (KUNI) YASUTAKE, M.A.

Co-founder, Principal Consultant

I am an Intercultural Communication and Engagement specialist and am originally from Tokyo, Japan. I feel fortunate to have been able to build my consulting practice since 2005. I owe this achievement to my wonderful clients, and am grateful for their support. Assisting professionals in a culturally diverse workforce is not an easy task, but I find it very stimulating and rewarding. Prior to my consulting career, I worked for for/non-profit businesses in both Japan and the U.S. I draw real-life cases from my own cross-cultural experiences and observations, and am very happy to hear that clients think of such stories as interesting ingredients of my sessions. I LOVE my job, and I’m sure designing and facilitating professional development services will never get old for me.

Co-founder, Research Consultant

My expertise is Strategic Management, and my research interests include Managerial Psychology, Business Innovation, Generational Theory, and Experiential Learning. As a Professor at Charlton College of Business at University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, I’m a three-time recipient of the College’s Student Teaching Award. I would describe my professional experience as “one foot in the real world, another in academia.” Prior to my professorship, I held various positions in investment analysis at Goldman Sachs, Continental Bank, and Kemper Securities. My background outside of academia helps me relate better to learners from many walks of life, whom I encounter in the university classroom and the conference room of my consulting clients.
